TUNEPLACES – EGOLI creates a coordinates system of stories covering the African Mega-Metropolis of Johannesburg. Listeners thus get a «narrative GPS» to avoid getting lost – something pretty usual in the City of Gold (isiZulu: eGoli). Observations and stories of ordinary and extraordinary situations serve as base camps on the listener’s path through downtown, uptown and suburbs. Each audio file is an entry point into Johannesburg’s core – thus from time to time the listener can get a very brief glimpse of the city’s personality – but he will never be able to fully understand.
